In addition to a 1:1 coaching session in person, you will have access to an additional 20 hours of body doubling sessions. What is body doubling? Body doubling is working alongside someone live (on Zoom) so their visible presence and gentle check-ins help you start, stay focused, and finish decluttering tasks. NOTE: Limited in-person availability is offered based on location. If you prefer an in-person option, please feel free to reach out, and we can discuss the details.
Here is a more specific breakdown of what to expect for the virtual sessions.
15-minute Intro
1. We talk about what is frustrating you regarding your home and your stuff. Some people feel comfortable taking me on a video tour using their phone but that is not necessary.
2. We talk about what has worked and what has not worked during prior attempts at decluttering and organizing.
3. We talk about your readiness to change (see attached guide) and your goals.
4. We have you take a before picture of the areas we will be working in if you would like - it really can be encouraging to look back on spaces when feeling discouraged about your progress! Before - better - after! Better is that "messy middle" but is good...better is good!!!
60-minute (One-Hour-Better)
This is the time I spend coaching you through Dana's 5-step process, typically starting in the most visible area of the home.
For this, you will need:
1. A black trash bag (it can be any color but black prevents us from seeing what we put in there and pulling it back out) This is for Step 1 of the process, which is trash. Obvious trash...which surprisingly, is there although most of us start by saying, "I'm pretty sure there's no trash here."
2. Your feet (or someone else's feet!) to take items we find that have a home, to their home. This is Step 2..."easy stuff". Things that already have an established "home" in your home and you just need to "take it there NOW!" A very important part of the process.
3. A donate-able donation box Donate-able meaning something that you can just hand over to the donation center without having to touch the items again in the hand off. This also limits the chance we will change our minds!! Typically this will be a cardboard box but can also be an extra laundry basket, a storage tote that no longer has a lid, etc... I've even used a suitcase I was donating and filled that with donations. It can also be bags but it's safer if they are a different color than the trash bag. This is Step 3..."DUH donations", meaning items that cause you no anxiety to drop in the donate box!
15-minute Wrap-up and Review:
1. We make sure we have not made a bigger mess and finish gathering the trash, recycling, donations, etc..
2. We have you tidy the space where you were working to make sure we did not miss any "take it there now" items.
3. I answer any questions you have.
4. We talk about next steps as well as how to maintain the progress you made in the One-Hour Better session.
I offer 6-week workshops multiple times throughout the year at a rate of $50. In these workshops, I teach Dana's 5-step No-Mess Decluttering Process. All of these include FREE access to 20 hours a week of body doubling to work on your spaces. Body doubling is working alongside someone live (on Zoom) so their visible presence and gentle check-ins help you start, stay focused, and finish decluttering tasks.

Dana K White, Decluttering at the Speed of Life
Hello, my name is Lisa Seaman, and I am the owner of The Decluttering Difference, a coaching program based on Dana K. White's No Mess Decluttering Method. Dana is the author of three books on decluttering and home management, including the bestselling book Decluttering at the Speed of Life.
Through sharing her personal journey with clutter and overwhelm in her books, Podcast and YouTube videos, Dana began hearing what a lasting decluttering difference her No Mess Decluttering Method was making in people's lives. Even for those who had never been able to declutter successfully before, like me.
After decades of struggling with clutter and overwhelm in my home, Dana's guaranteed method of making progress and only progress is what made the difference in my life. Her 5-step process takes the emotion out of decluttering and makes a real and lasting difference while preventing a bigger mess from being made (the number one reason people put off decluttering). No more shifting stuff from one room to the next and no more piles!
Due to the success of her process, Dana has trained and certified Decluttering Coaches to teach her methods. I knew immediately upon her offering her certification that I needed to share this process with others! Working towards having my home decluttered and under control has given me more time and peace of mind. It has created a calmer atmosphere in my home and has allowed me to be more present and relaxed for my family, all while raising a child with special needs.
Let me help you make a lasting decluttering difference in your home too!

Please contact us at thedeclutteringdifference@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Yes, I offer a free 15-minute consultation over the phone or via other methods of chatting.
I typically only do in-person for those living in Lancaster County, Pa. I have found that virtual sessions work really well, and my clients learn the process more quickly.
I prefer at least 2 hours at a time if I'm going to travel over 30 minutes from my location. On average, most people split their time up into 2-hour sessions, but I can do as little as 1 hour at a time or as many as 4 hours at a time. Anything over 4 hours at a time tends to be too much. Virtual sessions usually last 60-90 minutes.
As a coach, my goal is to teach you the skill of decluttering without making a bigger mess and to help you reach your clutter threshold. Your clutter threshold is the point at which you have decluttered enough that you can get things back in place in each room in a 5 minute or less pick-up. Yes, you CAN achieve that in your home! Your clutter threshold is not immediately known, so trying to organize before we know how much needs to be decluttered is not recommended. This process involves you in every decision so yes, you need to be there. I'll be honest, it is a longer process than hiring a professional organizer to come in and do the work for you, but the results will be yours AND will last!!
I find that Dana's method is the key to being successful with decluttering, so yes, that is what I prefer. This is a great conversation to have during our 15-minute consultation so I can hear what concerns you might have with the method. I'm also trained and certified by Cassandra Aarssen from Clutterbug and pursuing certification as a Decluttering Expert through Dawn from The Minimal Mom.
If in-person, donations that will fit in the back of a midsize SUV. I cannot take trash, recycling or chemicals.
See pricing under services and pricing. I accept Venmo, PayPal, check and cash at this time but prefer payments through Stripe which takes credit cards, debit cards and Apple Pay.
